The mission of "America the Sustainable" is to advance the understanding of and inspire action for sustainable living. We intend to meet our mission through pursuing the following goals.
- To reach out to the mass populous on a grassroots platform in order to raise awareness of living
a sustainable lifestyle as well as to research positive models of sustainable living
- To develop a network of like minded communities so as to share and spread innovations and information with regards to sustainable living.
- To promote the people, organizations, and businesses making progress towards sustainability.
The tour will consist of mainly road travel through the heart of America using mostly scenic by-ways. A video journal will be kept and broadcast on 2b4theWorld.com and other social media networks. The tour vehicle is highly recognizable and has been modified to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The route of the trip will also be determined by events and destinations of educational value. We will be stopping at colleges and universities to lead discussions for student environmental clubs. We will also be setting up open forum type exhibits in town centers across the US to sign people on to the website and lead discussions about sustainable living.
"America the Sustainable" is an ongoing social project aimed at reporting inspirational, educational, and optimistic stories about people dedicated to living sustainably and protecting or restoring our natural environment. The project is hosted by Byron Banghart who will be traveling the US in his "off-the-grid-rig" dubbed "The Tortoise " to seek out positive stories of environment progress and report those stories in a matter of fact format. Nothing fancy, just a positive look at what IS being done by the people bent on bettering our environment.
Here is a map of the prospective route, if you have a project that you feel relates to our mission and are located on the tour route, let us know. We are always looking for positive stories of the sustainable lifestyle.
