1,001 Ways to Save the Earth
This is one of the best books I’ve stumbled upon lately. Author Joanna Yarrow, a leading consultant and expert on sustainability, gives us 1,001 ways, real ways, to save our planet. I recommend this book as a reference guide, a gift, a conversation starter, a way to teach children and a gentle reminder to focus on the task at hand. What can each of us do? This book provides a creative and fun way to get people thinking about the small things they can do to make a collective big difference to our planet. For $9.95, you will gain access to 384 pages of goodness. This inventive and colorful book is something that can be referenced for years to come.
It was printed using mineral-oil free vegetable-based inks on paper produced from pulp obtained from sustainably managed forests, and from paper mills that meet environmental standard ISO 14001. This book is 100% recyclable.

Here are a few excerpts from her clever book:
100 Eat before you shop
It’s frightening how much food the average household throws away. Studies show that we buy more food if we shop when hungry. So a good meal before you hit the stores, combined with a proper shopping list, helps you to buy only what you need, and reduce this wasteful, expensive, and (ultimately) smelly food glut.
509 Travel light
Take nothing but pictures; leave nothing but footprints.
690 Anyone for coffee?
Next time you’re after a caffeine fix, look for shade-grown coffee. The farms it’s grown on support many more bird species and other types of wildlife and require much less fertilizer than full-sun plantations.
This book is a great way to make your voice heard in a compassionate way. Here are some ideas for giving: give to yourself, use as a stocking stuffer, use as a giveaway for a function or event, give as a gift to the host/hostess of a dinner party, use as a fun way to teach children in school or daycare, give as door-prizes for a community event, donate to teachers at your school, place in the waiting area of your office, use as party favors rather than the traditional gift ideas, give as a gift to those you want to gently persuade into action, give for birthdays, use as giveaways for events surrounding Earth Day celebrations, use as the subject of a talk or lecture and give this book as a prize after, and there are plenty of other ways to give this book...just give. These ideas need to be out in the world and not bottled up on the shelves of a bookstore.
