AYACUCHO

Welcome to Ayacucho. This is as close to Peruvian culture as I have seen. The people in this city are not trying to dress up or impress any tourists. The city sits nestled in the high desert mountains of the central highlands. The streets are mostly dirt, and mototaxis are the peoples  main source of transport. This developing part of the world is about culture and survival. There is little tourism because most people are going to neighboring Machu Pichu (about a 9 hour drive), The people seem content to live their life and do their work, I am here to volunteer in an orphanage for 2 and half weeks. My job will be to help students with their homework and encourage them because many come from families where domestic violence is common. I will send more as it comes.
